Scot Hinckley-Danielson posted a photo: This was shot at Garland Park in Carmel Valley. Strobist info: Vivitar 285hv high and camera left. Shoot through white umbrella. 1/4 power. Nikon SB-28 bare really far behind subject, angled 45 degrees at the trees. 1/1 power. Triggered with Cybersync. This was shot for use in the strobistbootcamp2009 background assignment, so the idea here was to light the background separately and bring up the trees that would have been lost as silhouettes in the ambient. It was also angled just enough to give a slight rim light to the subject. It was a bit tricky blending just enough ambient to make the use of the background flash less obvious. Continue reading →
