It has the world’s greatest museum of decorative art and design, with a permanent collection spanning over 5 000 years and including 4 500 000 objects. The museum is divided into 145 galleries and houses objects of marble, iron, glass, ceramics among others. The collection of Italian Renaissance objects is the largest outside of Italy. But there is also collections of Asian artefacts. And everything is neatly divided into collections – be it plaster-castings or Chinese art. The museum is often abbreviated V&A.
